JMU — Community Calendar, Fall 2012
Change Language:
Greater Madison

Greetings! Fall is a wonderful time of the year to call the Shenandoah Valley home. Greater Madison remains committed to this community and is looking forward to continuing its work with local organizations to ensure this stays an inspiring place to live.

We at Greater Madison would like to welcome back students, whether they’re returning to Harrisonburg or coming to live here for the first time. I hope all in the community will join me in making students feel at home.

Greater Madison would also like to welcome President Jonathan Alger. As JMU continues to thrive, so does our surrounding community and we look forward to working with President Alger to strengthen this positive relationship.

This past April 850 members of the JMU population showed their appreciation for the community they call home by participating in The Big Event — a day of service in which students and faculty and staff members are sent all over the Harrisonburg area to complete service projects. And this year’s Big Event was even bigger. For the 2012 day, JMU service was spread nationally as alumni across the country formed their own Big Event teams. Volunteers went to places like schools and churches and performed such jobs as painting, yard work and cleaning.

We are always looking for new ways to increase the ties between JMU and the Harrisonburg area. Email us or fill in the postagepaid card included in this calendar to share your thoughts. Is there something you would like included in the Community Calendar? Do you have an idea to advance the mission of Greater Madison? We look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely yours,

Greater Madison president
