By honoring the original design’s intent, she has created an interior whose 20th century vibe feels completely contemporary rather than nostalgic. “The main challenge was to respect and preserve the mid-century modern home while giving it a fresh, updated feel and function,” says Gillespie. Her design solution showcases the existing aesthetic of this signifcant work of mid-century modernism, while incorporating new amenities. Thoroughly Modern Update

With an eye for detail and an appreciation for the modernist aesthetic, Minnesota interior designer Jodi Gillespie, ASID, has artfully restored a mid-century modern jewel while updating it for a 21st century lifestyle. By honoring the original design’s intent, she has created an interior whose 20th century vibe feels completely contemporary rather than nostalgic.

“The main challenge was to respect and preserve the mid-century modern home while giving it a fresh, updated feel and function,” says Gillespie. Her design solution showcases the existing aesthetic of this significant work of mid-century modernism, while incorporating new amenities.

To preserve the existing modernist aesthetic, Gillespie:
